Ring of Hope Boxing Club working with Filmworks 109 - Filmworks
(845) 597-4804 filmworks109@gmail.com

We’re excited to announce that Filmworks 109 will be working with Schenectady Ring of Hope Boxing Club.

Schenectady’s Ring of Hope Boxing Club is a full-service boxing gym that is located just off Route 7 at Crosstown Plaza in Schenectady, NY.  They offer a variety of fitness and competitive programs for children, adolescents and adults.

Filmworks 109 was introduced to Schenectady’s Ring of Hope Boxing Club by Jeff Christiana from Berkshire Hathaway who works with the the gym.  Jeff is the chairman of the gym and has been there since day one.  The facility they’ve been at has been their home for the last 5 years.

Ring of Hope Boxing Club Coach Vince Kittle

Within the last week we’ve gone to the Ring of Hope Boxing Club and gotten a behind the scenes look at how they work.  We’ve seen everything from the facility they have to the dedication that coaches like Vince Kittle have.

One quote Jeff shared with us from Vince that I wanted to share with you is this: “When we can help one, just one of these youngsters, they will influence others and pay it forward.  Process kicks in and everybody benefits. The school systems, the welfare system, law enforcement, the whole community.”  This quote gives you a look into what goes through the heads of the coaches and what they hope to achieve with these kids.

Aside from meeting some of the people that make it happen, we’ve also gotten to meet some aspiring boxers, one of which we are focusing on in this video.  In this video we are doing a profile on a Louis Ortiz. Louis is a young aspiring boxer who has found boxing to be more than a sport.  In the video Louis talks about how he has found boxing to be life changing and how boxing has helped him overcome a lot of the hardships in his life and push him in a positive direction.

Another focus of this video is that the Ring of Hope Boxing Club is working on getting a grant for their mentoring program. This grant would be for the mentoring work that they do at their gym which has been something they pride themselves on.

The team at Filmworks 109 is excited to see how this video develops while working with the Schenectady Ring of Hope Boxing Club.  We’re always looking forward to support the local community and if you’re ever looking for a great place to box then check out the Schenectady Ring of Hope Boxing Club.

Keep an eye out for the video that will be out soon for Schenectady Youth Boxing.  It will be posted on our Vimeo page and will keep you updated via our Facebook page and our blog.
